Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Marcos Alfaro
Secretary-Treasurer Marcos Alfaro, USW Local 125, opened his speech by expressing his gratitude for every one in the room. “Our work is not in vain. We didn’t start this movement; we work together to carry this movement forward and live our values. And we must treat one another and care for one another, for all workers, like we would our siblings, our brothers and sisters.”
Growing up as a migrant farm worker, Alfaro met his wife in the cucumber fields before settling down and landing a union foundry job in the Two Rivers area.
“Like so many working people, I have faced challenges and struggles in my life. As my Dad always said, you can’t let it make you bitter, you must let it make you better.”
